About Me
Hi! I’m Jesse, also known as chillbruh online. I’m currently a university student, studying Information Technology, and the incoming system administrator for the NJIT Information and Cybersecurity Club. I am passionate for cybersecurity, system administration, and server administration. I heavily believe in improving digital privacy and security for businesses and individuals, open-source technology, and self-hosting services.
I am currently employed at a small IT business, and I perform a mix of technical support, web development, system administration, and server administration for over a hundred companies.
Education
I am a current student at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, and I have an Associate’s degree in Computer Science from Middlesex College. I am also CompTIA A+ certified.
Further, I am pursuing certifications for the CompTIA Network+, and the CompTIA Security+.
I am currently learning Bash, PowerShell, and Python, with further interests in learning a low-level language such as Rust, C, or x64 Assembly.

Projects
I currently operate my own home lab, running Alpine Linux on a Raspberry Pi 4, with external hard drives for Network-Attached Storage. I self-host a variety of internal services, such as Joplin Server for note-taking, MIND for reminders pushed through Gotify, and Audiobookshelf for my local audiobook server.
I also have current plans to upgrade my home lab setup to use an HP ProDesk as a server, replacing the Raspberry Pi 4 system. This new system comes with two additional SSDs, an NVIDIA T400 4GB as a GPU, and will also be upgraded to have a 2.5GbE or 10GbE card. I refer to this project as home lab version 3, or v3 for short.
Home lab version 3 will utilize ProxMox VE for virtualization of individual servers that I can work with. Such servers might include the main Ubuntu Server instance for all my current services, a game server that can be switched on for playing games with friends, or it can be used for networking and system administration practice. I will also use a virtual machine for static binary and malware analysis, utilizing a separate system and VM entirely for dynamic analysis.
The 3rd version of my home lab will also use an external reverse proxy. I intend on setting up a VPN tunnel between my VPS server and my home server, so that I can reduce the number of open ports on my home router. I am also doing this so that I won’t have to expose my home IP address when connecting my domain to my media services.
My network is also due for improvements, as I have plans to introduce a 10GbE switch, and potentially a pfSense router.
